Descriptif du poste :
This 6-month internship, ideally starting January 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter) is part of a French National Research Funded project UniGEM (Unified Inference for Genomic Epidemiology of Malaria). Using simulation-based inference with deep learning, UniGEM aims to build a neural network to estimate parameters of malaria epidemiology.
Within UniGEM, the intern will engineer the features input into the neural network and to compute their values using malaria parasite data from MalariaGen's Pf8 release. These values will be used by a PhD to estimate epidemiological parameters worldwide. Interns interested in the artificial intelligence / epidemiology interface are encouraged to apply as the internship could potentially progress into the PhD, which will be funded through the Paris Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, PRAIRIE.
